Festival directors and producers offer advice on the world music festivals of Europe that is tailored to the needs of Korean performing arts organizations, and discuss how to prepare for a successful overseas tour. Patrick de Groote, who is a delegate director of EFWMF (European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals), the director of SFINKS festival, and who visited Korea during PAMS 2008, gives an overview of the research, preparation and communication dynamics involved in participating in World Music Festivals in Europe. Mark Ringwood, president of Roots around the World and a successful presenter of traditional Korean musical groups in the UK, provides an overview of the world music market in the UK, and shares his expertise on preparing for tours, working with agents, and more.

Patrick de Groote
Patrick is a director and a programmer with Sfinks festival and Zomer van Antwerpen. He is also coordinating the European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals, a network of European festivals that gathers together more than 40 of the most prestigious world music festivals in Europe. He frequently serves on the program committees of other European festivals, and participates in many networking meetings and conferences.

Mark Ringwood
The President of Roots Around the World, Mark is now serving on his second UK government taskforce, which is advising the government on policy with regard to allowing overseas musicians to perform in the UK. He is also serving as the chair of the committee in charge of a bid for a new radio station to serve the city of Chichester.

Roots Around the World now tours more than 40 artists annually, has spawned a very successful radio program of the same name, and promotes more than 100 performances each year in West Sussex. There is considerable interaction between the US, Canada and Korea in the areas of arts and culture, but how much do Koreans really know about the North American performing arts market? Since 2008, Ms. Park has served as the Chairperson of the Korean Society of Arts and Cultural Management. She is a professor in the department of Arts & Cultural Management in the Graduate School of Business Administration at Kyung Hee University and is also the President of the Center for Arts & Cultural Management. She also served as the Chairperson of the <South and North Korea, and International Relations Committee> under Arts Council Korea (ARKO), as a committee member of the <Gwangju Cultural City Committee for the Hub City of Asian Culture> under the direct supervision of the President of the Republic of Korea, as a member of the Policy Evaluation Committee of the Office for Government Policy Coordination under the Prime Minister's Office, and as an evaluation committee member of the Cultural Properties Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Sandra Gibson
Sandra Gibson, who joined as the President & CEO of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) in 2000, has successfully increased the number of APAP members by 50% since her inauguration. She has served in many arts service organization, including the arts committee for the regions located in Long Beach, and as the US committee member at UNESCO (2004-2008).

Ken Foster has served as the Executive Director of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts since 2003, and has been working in the field of performing arts presentation
for more than 20 years, directing programs at Millikin University, Penn State University and the University of Arizona. He also has been active in several national arts service organizations, including serving as the chair of the Board of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters from 2000-2003.

Alain Paré, the founder and the CEO of CINARS, has many years of experience working as a manager and agent for artists, and established “Les Production Contour," which specializes in show production, in 1981. He has worked for all types of organizations that preserve and promote French culture, and served as the CEO of the Festivals Montréal, which were established in 1999.

CINARS is not-for-a-profit organization located in Montreal, Canada that was established in 1984. It strives to promote performing arts from Canada and Quebec (French cultural bloc) in the world market. In particular, it is focused on the development of all types of support systems that consider demand in the field, in order to enter the international market with the Canadian performing art. This is the first arts market held in the world, and it is hosted every two years.
